Today's piece for Fool.com on ending the era of entitlement. Don't a lot of folks seem to feel awfully entitled to certain things, just because that's how things are, the ways things have been, and nobody's supposed to question that status quo? Many CEOs seem to have this attitude way too often, to the ultrimate detriment of shareholders.

@ #1 I have to agree with mitey. Entitlement is like Banquo's ghost--the zeitgeist of our civilization. Entitlement comes unasked to college classrooms, board meetings, and the economic summits of countries. (I just felt entitled to share my opinion.)

Yeah (and you ARE absolutely entitled to share your opinion!). I'm calling out CEOs because I really do believe it's a big problem for shareholders when top management seem to be saying they deserve a large reward "just because" instead of proving actual performance for said reward. But I am also noticing the societal problem these days -- it seems that everybody can point fingers about certain things, but they give themselves a pass on some of the same types of things. A kind of selfish, entitled society... I wish I felt like there was a reversal but if anything it seems to be getting worse. Oh, but I sound so negative, ha.
