So when Banro (BAA) announced that Dr. Peter Ruxton, who spent 11 years of his 15-year mining career with BHP Billiton (NYSE: BHP), had been appointed to its board. It sent alarm bells to mutual funds and such to start taking Banro a lot more seriously as an investment.

Dr. Ruxton's experience with BHP Billiton (NYSE: BHP) is a major positive for Banro to get over the hump and to limit any growing pains in the transformation from a small-cap explorer into major gold mining company.
