Favorite "buy & hold" stocks?

July 01, 2011 – Comments (7) | RELATED TICKERS: LUK , BIP , PLL

In real life, I achieve diversification via funds and only hold a few individual stocks.  If I really believe in a stock I want to hold enough of it to make a difference. I have about 5 b&h stocks and 5 short-term holds.

My current b&h (i.e. 5-years at least):

Apple (have held for quite awhile, may sell in a year or two)

LUK

BIP

PLL

I'm looking for another one.  Suggestions?

Criteria: currently undervalued.  expect significantly above-average growth and profits long-term.

ARII is possibly the best I can think of...

ATHX for a little more risk/reward. $62.5 mln market cap is just ridiculous

CVX, EMR, JCI, APD, PX, AEP, and HI. I especially like HI now that they had two days of new 52-wk highs last week. A ruling a couple quarters ago got some competition to stop copying their casket designs. The resulting higher sales and margins are showing up and that trend should continue, recession or no recession, for at least the next year as y-o-y comparisons continue to be favorable.

thanks, several of those recs are already on my watch list (arii, pbr, cvx, jci).  I checked out the others too.  cvx looks good but i'm going to go with a riskier pick: PPO.
