I ask this question with the realization that today's CPAC straw poll winner for the 2012 presidential nomination, veteran Texas Congressman Ron Paul, is most likely at small footnote on the overall landscape of American politics

I am a longtime Ron Paul supporter so my bias is clear, but I am not going to provide the "pro Ron Paul" case well known by most of this community,  What I do find most interesting about today's events are the short-term discussions likely arising out of today's "election" and how they could change the political landscape, I look forward to hearing more of Dr, Paul's ideas for fiscal responsibility and national defense, almost as much as I am curious as to how the liberal media will respond,

I believe that the far right, conservatve media will attempt to torpedo Dr  Paul under the "he won't keep American safe" lie.  However, the question of how the liberal media attacks a man of high integrity and an  "anti-invade and occupy" foriegn policy is less clear,  As a citizen and investor, my hope of cutting the fat, waste and influence of big government, and exposing the truth about the Federal Reseve  (whatever that means) is elevated with Dr. Paul.'s status and my hope for real and positive change, at least temporarily, restored.

The next presidential race will be fun.  What should be interesting is that Obama should be teflon like when it comes to security  He certainly has spent enough to keep that crowd at bay  The real fight is in the republican party where the hawks will be out in droves.

If Paul is forced to run as an independent, then Liberty is in trouble again.
