Finding the best 3d play

November 06, 2010 – Comments (5)

I don't much care 3d

I also think that a lot of 3d movies, the 3d doesn't add much. But everybody I talk to is obsessed with it, so I do believe its the future. What's the best way to play it? Dwa, too easy to bootleg, plus its not pure 3d. Rld is way too hot, and they have a 1b mkt cap with no profits. Maybe sony for the 3d tv? What are some better 3d plays?

Some people say BTN (Ballantyne Strong Inc.) stands to profit nicely from the 3D mania.

Ballantyne Strong, Inc. (Ballantyne), formerly Ballantyne of Omaha, Inc., is a manufacturer, distributor and service provider to the theatre exhibition industry on a worldwide basis. Through the Company’s Strong trademark, it can outfit and automate a theatre projection booth and digital projection. The Company also designs, develops, manufactures and distributes lighting systems to the worldwide entertainment lighting industry through its Strong Entertainment lighting division. It also manufactures cinema screens in Joliette, Canada through its Strong/MDI Screens, Inc. subsidiary. It primarily operates within two business segments: theatre and lighting.

The problem I have with 3D is not so much the technology.  I think 3D is pretty cool.  The problem is that nobody wants to write stories anymore.  It seems they want to rehash old stories and rely on the 3D gimmick for ticket/DVD sales.  Plus, from what I understand from it, long term exposure to watching 3D TV can really F up your eyes.

But there is demand for it so you never know.  I, for one, will not be buying a 3D TV set anytime soon.

Plus, I don't think it will be too long before 3D is gone and replaced by moving holograms in your living room...
