Mish has a post where he says we are following Japan's path and has a graph showing a 10 year offset.

This one caught my interest because Japan's economy to me has been one to watch as a model of what might be expected with the North American housing bubble.

Japan as a model has shown up a few time in my post...

Japan appears to been in a liquidity trap. This is a theorized but probably never before seen in the wild feature of monetarism. Given that US and Japanese attitudes about money and saving are very different, I don't see the US going that way. (Note: This is not a claim the outcome will be good, just different than Japan.)
