I am sick and tired of what has become the U.S. of A.

Since when do we send people in jail for financial fraud for life???!!!

It started with Enron. If you are stupid enough to invest in a company that cooks the books, it's your own fault. And I have news for you. Most companies cook their books.

In case of Madoff, he took it one step futher....so???

Do we send people in jail for life for pyramid schemes??? I saw a lady on Judge Judy the other day who did a Pyramid scheme, and she got off with some penalty.

Ofcourse Madof did it on much much bigger scale, but so what???

If you were stupid and greedy enough to think anyone can beat the market for 40 years and gives you double what the market pays it is partially, or mostly your own fault.

Madof didn't murder anyone, he didn't injur anyone. You might say...but many people died because they didn't have money to go to doctor becuase of him and so on...But that is a very stupid argument. It's like suing GM because they fired people and now people have no money.

Madof was the money maker and once he stopped making money we send him to jail for life!!!

Where in Law says that a person can be sent to jail for life for financial fraud???

What's next is what scares me the most???

Are we going to send people in jail for declaring bankruptcy? for maybe overdrawing from your checking account? or should we just cut off their hands like in Saudi Arabia????

Free Madoff Now!!!!

I can't believe bunch of idiots had the power to put that man in jail!

Free Madof now or this country doesn't deserve to be called the U.S.A. land of the free.

Free??

And while he is jail who is paying for his jail cell and meals? tax payers!

You're right.  He shouldn't be in prison for life.  The judge in the case should add a second life sentence for good measure.

I agree....we also shouldn't send murderers to jail.  I mean...they only hurt the person that they killed...they didn't hurt the jury, or lawyers or the judge.  Ridiculous.

And actually....it started moreso w/ the S&L crisis....remember?...when we indicted over a thousand people.   This time around...I think we've indicted about 4 or 5 people.  So...you should be proud of the direction this country is taking on fraud.

I hope this blog is tongue-in-cheek, because otherwise it's shameful.  I can't believe anyone would think it's okay for someone to ruin thousands of lives and get away with it.  Would you feel this way if it was your money down the drain?  What's the difference between what Madoff did and out-and-out theft?  Nothing that I can see.
