If you earned 20,000.00 back in 1970 has your pay gone up with what it should be today. Labor dept. says 112,791.24.How does your pay check compare to today?

Go to the labor department web sight. Go to the inflation calulator. This is how much you need just to tred water and buy the same amount as you could in 1970. Each year will be different.

http://www.dol.gov/   Now the same 20k in 1970 would need to be $42,474.23 in 1980 $67,371.13 in 1990 and $88,762.89 in 2000 now and $112,791.24 in just the first half of 2008 not even the whole year. Fed won't address the dollar.
