Roche Hostile Bid
aka Genentech is Dead...Long Live Genentech...
It is over for Genentech as we all knew Genentech...esp. given consolidation issues. Arguably this is Groundhog day for both Roche and DNA insiders ie Having their cake and eating it too? The [only] reason any "DNA" passionate (the only one you want) employee to stay on is if [Arthur Levinson Ph.D.] remains with the Company but that cannot last long given said "consolidation" and concomitant death by 1000 cuts of employee morale/entrepreneurial passion*...Employees who only care about themselves vs. research will remain. This Swiss filter is about to go live.
The good/more important news/fallout is that the world is about to benefit from a wave of new biotech startup(s) cloned from Genentech's recombinant DNA...
* In 1994 we were a up and coming biotech and Roche took us over. The instituted their now failed policies and now we are shutting down. I feel very bad for the Genentech folks. The DNA culture sounds so wonderful, and it’s a shame that the company I work for will ruin it. I can’t imagine coming to work and feeling I am a valued employee. 1. Roche puts profits above anything 2. Very little focus on individual patients and lots of focus on market share. 3. Synergy over innovation 4. Employees are micromanaged and not empowered 5. We all feel like cogs and not contributors 6. No one likes to make a decision, very little accountability. Roche will make a complete mess out of Genentech, what a terrible shame.
