For the most part, the earthquakes in CA/Baja region range from 2.6 to the 3's.  When the magnitude increases to a consistent 4 and 5, its time to get your family out of my birth state.  I don't descredit the former USGS guy, and his reasonign has logic to it, but I think he could have been more persuasive in his argument.  Ofcourse, beign Monday, his prediction for this past Saturday was off, nto to say it won't happen in the future, just that his initial prediction was off.

Perhaps it could be argued that the previous, relatively large quakes may have had the effect of releasing tectonic stresses and therefore another big quake is less likely than before.  Just sayin'.
