Get Ready for Global Cooling, by E Ralph Hostetter -

 E. Ralph Hostetter, a prominent businessman and agricultural publisher, also is a national and local award-winning columnist.

19 Dec 07 - There is growing evidence that the sun itself - the giver of all energy to the planet - plays a major role in the warming and cooling of the planet, cited by dozens of reputable scientists based on a history of climate and temperatures dating back thousands of years.

When the sun is active with sunspot and solar storms, more solar energy reaches the earth. When the sun is dormant (void) of such storms, less energy is emitted and temperatures on the earth begin to cool.

At present, the sun is approaching a more dormant status, and temperatures that reached a high at the turn of the century have now stabilized at slightly lower levels...

...This revelation does not mean that the global warming issue has come to an end — by no means.

The global warming hucksters led by former Vice President Al Gore, now a Nobel Prize honoree, have too great an investment to give up easily.

The corrupt, dishonest media has so much global warming egg on its face it will fight to the bitter end rather than admit it has played such a major role in the "hoax of the century," so described by Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., ranking member of the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee.

Several years will yet have to pass to establish the fact the globe is actually cooling. The years 2009-10 should establish that global cooling has begun...

...The nation will know if and when the solar observations prove to be true. At that time, Al Gore and all the global warming hucksters will claim credit for the change in climate.

Best wishes,

Steven

I guess the lesson learned is that Hostetter was wrong.  Doesn't mean I was as I have argued elsewhere, that global warming was not a man made event since it started when we were in caves and that mankind has no control over global events like continental plate shifting, sunspots or solar flares, volcanic eruptions or cosmic collisions.

I submit that in the future we will recede back into an ice age but all of us will be long gone and buried.

Stop the con.  You know the one.  Instead of arguing anti-pollution (which doesn't really scare people into immediate action), argue climate armageddon.

Climate is influenced by many factors, some affected by man, others not.  As with so many things in our complex world, some of the factors are in opposition to one another.  Politicians focus only on those that advance their preconceived idiology and poo-poo the rest.  Better listen to the scientists rather than the policians, such as Inhofe.  At the moment, the warming influences are overpowering the cooling ones, suggesting that Florida will flood before it freezes.  Fortunately mankind does have influence over some of the warming influences.  It would be much wiser to be concerned about Methane, Carbon Dioxide, etc. than to poo-poo the danger and (glug, glug) drown (glug, glug, glug) under  (glug, glug, glug)  the (glug, glug, glug) melting (glug, glug, glug) icecaps (glug, glug, glug) ....

Except mankind can't stop the melting.  Massive gases trapped in the frozen tundra of Russia and Canada will be released as the warming continues.  Mankind can't stop that.  Continental shifting will continue and remodel the face of the Earth.  Mankind can't stop that.  And on and on and on.

This has never really been about global warming, it is about pollution.  But as I said shouting pollution doesn't real scare people into immediate action.

While there is melting in some areas, other areas show that ice is thickening.

Since early 1900's to present...no significant warming.
Just normal hot and cold cycles.

Middle Ages had much warmer temperatures that 1900s to present.

The scientist that was poorly quoted in the above article said that there is a decent CHANCE that the sun was going into a 25 year or 75 year cooling phase.  That means there is a chance that the sun does not go into a cooling phase during this cycle.

While we do not yet know if the sun is going into an extended cooling phase, it has become less likely based upon observations over the past year.  Within a few years we will know if the sun has been warming up again, or if we have entered into an extended cooling phase.

Since no scientist has claimed that CO2 emissions effect solar activity, a failure of the sun to enter into an extended cooling phase has nothing to do with mankinds pollution.

I think you are making that up.

Who cares?  It is unimportant if one man's prognostication was right or wrong.  The weather is the weather and the climate is the climate.  In the end mankind can't control it, only adapt to it. So why do you keep doing these types of posts Devoish?  There really isn't anything worth debating.

What would be strong evidence, altough still not definitive, would be a warming trend during an extended time of reduced solar output.
