Judging by the great job that our government has done with fixing the economy, healthcare, and potholes( I live in Detroit)....

I posted a blog entry a few days ago.

 http://caps.fool.com/Blogs/ViewPost.aspx?bpid=311314&t=01009998477655344735

In short it outlined the periodic claims of the past century in regards to the planet cooling then warming then cooling then warming. I'm no eviromental scientist but this may be as a result of the positive and negative feedback mechanisms. For example, If the climate is increasingly warmer>>more ocean water to evaporate>>> increased cloud coverage>>> increased reflection of sun>>>cooling

Now a few people, and likely rightfully so, pointed out some possible shortcomings in the article. Regardless, there are two facts that we can agree upon.

#1 Judging by the great job that our government has done with fixing the economy, healthcare, and potholes( I live in Detroit). Who then, if climate change at the point of no return is certain, in their right mind and sound judgment will count on them to fix a exeedingly more complex and more herculean issue?

Consider...

Gerald Celente: '' this isn't even economics 101, its economics for dummies''

Mac Faber: '' from my expierience, anytime the government has attempted to reform something, they only made it much worst''

#2 The fact still remains that this isn't the first time that we heard of a impeding crisis that threatens to wipe out millions and it won't be the last.

that reminds me, did you all get your H1N1 vaccine shots?

A carbon tax is simple enough to implement.

The fact that taxes discourage production is a simple enough economic theory to comprehend. Thanks for giving me an idea for a blog entry.

It's an imaginary problem anyway. So after they pass Cap and Trade they can wait a few years and announce that they came up with an imaginary solution.

The fact that carbon taxes would be revenue-neutral thus not representing a net cost to the economy is a simple enough economic theory to comprehend.

This is a variation of Lindzen's Iris effect hypothesis. It's been discredited.
