RELATED TICKERS: GM
And they are pulling $10M worth of advertising! That's gotta sting a little.
Ford said they were going to keep their Facebook advertising and that GM was just doing it wrong: http://www.zdnet.com/blog/facebook/after-gm-kills-10-million-facebook-ad-budget-ford-laughs/13176
I don't use Facebook or understand its appeal, so I have no way to comment on the advertising there. However, the online GM ads that I see don't interest me at all.
I never click Facebook ads. They all seem so "scammy".
When will investors realize that people go to FB to socialize. For marketing they Google or use Amazon. People who buy the shares on the secondary come day 1 are so going to get burned.
Zuckerberg isn't a Steve Jobs. The world will make him obscenely rich but he won't make the secondary market rich.
I think GM made a wise decision to pull the ads. I think in time F will quietly do the same.
Yeah, I personally am not on FB but the younger crowd (my teen daughter and her friends) is on there all the time. Ford typically goes after the younger crowd.
Facebook's add click through rate is terrible.
What I find hilarious is that GM spends $30 million maintaining its Facebook page and finds that to be money well spent. That's a huge pile of money.

And they did.
