Thanks for the link, Seth.  I've always liked Jubak, but I haven't read him in a while.  Man he's looking old these days.  Yikes.  I suppose that means that I'm looking older, too ;).  The more I think about where our country's demographics are headed I can't help but thinking about the similarities between the where the U.S. is headed and where Japan is in now.  More and more old people being supported by fewer young people is not exactly a recipe for success.

As for the government bailing out people who can't afford to make their mortgage payments, the whole concept is mind boggling to me.  How on Earth are people rewarded for being greedy and buying more house than they should have or just plain stupid and not understanding what they were getting into.  Some days I think that we'd all be better off if the government just paved the roads and shot anyone who tried to invade our country and just let everything else fall where it may, but I know that there has to be some reasonable middle ground between that and the overregularion and waste that we currently have in the government.
