I was watching Great Panther take off on the Canadian market today but couldn't figure out why it wasn't moving on CAPS until I checked out the Great Panther Website and read this:

GREAT PANTHER SILVER LIMITED (TSX: GPR; NYSE Amex: GPL; the "Company") is pleased to announce that its common shares have been authorized for listing on the NYSE Amex stock exchange in the United States. The Company expects the shares to begin trading on or about February 8, 2011 under the trading symbol "GPL". The Company will retain its listing on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) in Canada under the trading symbol "GPR".

Haha. I had a similar initial reaction 100ozRound. But knowing how positive the prospects for this company have been, I knew in the back of my mind it had to be something good...

This is an excellent development for the company and the stock...Expecting a technical break out soon.

I think CAPS listed it twice instead of simply changing the ticker.

@MoneyWorksforMe...

Why would you think a technical breakout of GPl will occur soon?

Sinchi's ship has come in. :)

That just wiped away 30% of my total pink sheets exposure in a single day.

New listings generally usher in plenty of fresh buying activity, but that effect will be multiplied by both the extreme popularity of silver and the extreme scarcity of U.S.-listed targeted silver plays available. With only about 10 such silver instruments to choose from, you can bet GPL will work its way into the portfolios of many a silver investor now that the pink sheets stigma has been removed.

This is an enormously bullish development for the stock. There may be some initial volatility, and any renewed pullback in silver would likely delay the breakout, but MWM is right ... a major breakout above $3 is certainly in the cards once silver retakes the $30 threshold to stay.

so, does that mean that all the share of GPRLF that one may have had in his/her real life account automatically get transferred to GPL status, on a 1:1 basis?

52 week high @ 2.92...

The stock has seen quite a bit of resistance around this level before.

Stock currently trading around $2.8/share.

I think with them being listed on the NYSE and silver prices continuing upwards, there will be plenty of momentum to cause a break-out above this level.
