Beleaguered southwestern grocer Bashas' filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Sunday night in an attempt to continue operations. The company announced 10 new store closings alongside the filing.
Premium children's clothing retailer Pumpkin Patch is reviewing its U.S. operations and will be closing around 20 of its 35 locations this summer.
Anchor Blue, a southwestern chain selling denim and other clothing, is closing and liquidating 46 stores.
Apparel retailer Abercrombie & Fitch is shutting down the Ruehl chain and closing all 29 doors.
Apparel retailer Talbots is selling the J. Jill line to a capital investment firm. Seventy-five of J. Jill's 279 stores will close as a result of the sale.
Southern restaurant chain Whataburger is closing 14 of its Florida locations due to the spending slump.
Brown Shoe, parent company of Famous Footwear and Dr. Scholl's, is closing more stores than expected due to the weak economy. Total closings may reach 70 locations by year's end.
