H1N1 mutating?

I am probably more worried about H1N1 than an average american due to flu epidemic both in Russia and Ukraine. It is pretty bad, though perhaps not as bad as reported in certain attention seeking media sources.

In case of Ukraine there were rumours that H1N1 goes stright for the lungs, causing quick death. Then there were other reports that perhaps it is exaggerated and is a some sort of a conspiracy.

Anyway, surprise surpise, Bloomberg reported today the same issue found in Norway. So, I guess it is not a conspiracy after all.

------------------------------------------------------

Nov. 20 (Bloomberg) -- Norway’s Institute of Public Health discovered a mutated form of the H1N1 influenza virus that may make it more prone to infect deeper in the airways and cause more severe disease.

The mutated virus has been detected in two patients who died of the flu and one who was severely ill with the disease out of 70 cases tested, the institute said today in a statement.

I apologize for posting on non-investment topic, but since Bloomberg reports it , it must be somehow relevant, right?

Millions has been spent and millions more will be spent trying to combat this pandemic before it is all over.  Investing in the companies that will benefit from that money isn't a bad investing strategy.

I heard something recently about H1N1 cases being under-reported. Does anyone have any info about that?

Don't have my sources (it's late friday, I'm too tired and lazy), but the general idea is that testing has taken longer than expected.  Supposedly, the results are coming in, and more deaths are being attributed to the flu.

(Last I heard, the number in the US was something like 3000-4000...a jump from about 250 or so.)

Add to that the decision by the CDC not to worry about tracking the number of cases, and you get a wide range of possiblities--overstated, understated, and just "pulled it out of my....wallet" numbers.

So yeah...the numbers were underreported.  Now?  Who knows?

Some of my employees know people who have had H1N1. It really isn't very bad. Bed rest for two days and boom totally fine.

I think that I read somewhere there was some mutation but that the folks that showed this mutated strain were already sick and were imuno-compromised with other illnesses.

I think the same could be said in general.  If your already sick from something else (heart, liver, kidneys disease) this flu could put you down big time.  Otherwise there is a good chance you could get over it.

I agree with Ron, somewhere down the line some money is being thrown around.  It'd be isteresting to see where that is??

Viruses always mutate.  The "vaccine" they administer is the drug manufacturers' "best guess" at hitting a combination that will actually have a combative effect against the cyclical virus.

Every year...

5% to 20% of the population gets the flu;more than 200,000 people are hospitalized from flu-related complications; andabout 36,000 people die from flu-related causes.

This years virus has been advertised, demonized, given a hideious face and a very serious sounding name...H1N1.  It's the swine flu for gosh sake...it comes from animals!  We're all going to turn into pigs and die horrible excruciating deaths if we don't rush out to our local vaccine pusher who just happens to have a dose of "preventative" medicine for $29.99.

And, didn't the President make a grand gesture about it...and the V.P. too?  Wow, it must really be something this year.  We'd all better get that vaccine.  But there are shortages of the vaccine everywhere...imagine that?  Supply and demand come into play.  But I need my vaccine.  Please Uncle Sam, please World Health Organization, come to my rescue and give me the cure.

Maybe if we pass the Healthcare reform all will be made right.  We'll all have excellent government care and....oh, wait.  What if Uncle Sam mandates that all citizens must be inocculated?  What if it's not just an influenza vaccine that we must have.  What if we must take whatever it is "they" determine is the best for the population, for the world, and if we don't get our shot, we're fined and excluded from using government funded resources and facilities?

It's so obvious to any objective observer that there is a squeeze play happening here.  Government need their citizens to rely on them.  Big Pharma needs customers.  Education is no longer education, but instead indoctrination, leaving out the part about independent thought and real American history.  Leaving out the unpleasantries and trifles abouth previous wars, their real causes, the psychotics who rallied people to insane causes, and the present-day freaks who are now coddled and invited for tea and chat with the President.

I'll tell you what's way beyond H1N1...the disease that is eating this country away from within.  The dead wood in our electorate.  The President who is nothing more than a socialist, nay communist under the cover of our Republic's flag.  What a travesty that whole populations can be so controlled by so-called authorities and the pre-planned media.

My uncle worked for NBC for the past 30 years.  He was in charge of new stories.  He said for as long as he worked there, the stories that were finally broadcast had almost no semblance to the stores that were actually reported.

Don't buy into what the global brainwash that Al Gore, B.O, the WHO and the rest of the snake oil sales people are selling.  It's garbage, and I had to write this because I can see here and everywhere that people are being lulled, scared and squeezed until they just lose their ability to use logic and common sense and real history and facts to decide for themselves and take care of themselves.

It's time to get off the government teet and pull yourself up by your own bootstraps, take care of yourself, fend for yourself, create, grow, hunt, garden and ween yourself from headline news and disinformation shovelled out by our corrupt government offices.

But don't just listen to what I say.  Don't listen to the news.  Don't believe the newspaper.  Instead.  Look around.  Talk with your neighbors, friends and family...but not about what's on the news.  Talk with them about what you know, and what is logical and what is common sense.  Seperate yourself from the junk that's being streamed into your brain.

Become an independent, self-sufficient, freedom-loving, liberty loving individual again.  If you don't, your just another whipping boy (or girl) for those who have you where they want you.

Fool on!

(PS - I'm out to get you too, so as you go about your usual routine tomorrow (Saturday) you better look out for blue Buick Escalades with government tags driving under the speed limit. And ESPN. We can see what you're doing whenever you watch ESPN.) Report this comment

from what I hear a lot of people have had it, probably way more than we think. I know at least 2-3 people who had H1N1 and both said regular seasonal flue is worse. However, I've also see a post on one of Russian forums that a young woman who used to be a moderator on the forum died from that Ukrainian outbreak. So looks like it really affect different people differently. And people who are in high risk group should really be careful..

I don't believe anyone is "out to get me."  I do believe that the powers that be have convinced themselves that they are Gods, with all the answers for the solutions to all the world's ills. I also believed that the media is turning a good portion of the developed world citizens' brains to mush and that anything that is "produced" by the "professionals is taken for granted as fact more often than not..  It's not a conspiracy, but an expected result when the human race abandons logic and common sense and instead puts all its faith and trust in "professionals,"  "elected officials" and "produced and published" media.

Fool on.  Have fun with that vaccine...I guarantee you'll get sick from it.
