The Longview News-Journal announced today that is has reduced its workforce by 12 percent in response to a continued sluggish economy and resulting soft advertising revenues. The layoffs affect all departments throughout the operation, according to Gary Borders, publisher.

Hundreds of Wayne County employees will get notices next week, telling them they’ll be laid off every Friday, beginning Feb. 5 for the foreseeable future.
