Remember, Saddam with the nukes, 911, no time to think... No time to compromise. The same overseers who sold that line of lies, now pushing a new Armageddon story told by the same failed financial crew who said that these toxic debts didn't need any attention a year ago, that everything would be contained. Two of the top players in that crew happen to also be long-time supporters of the do-nothing, see-no-evil "free market" guys that let this entire thing happen without batting an eyelash (or indeed, pocketing plenty of money while taking part in the investment-banking fun.)

I say this rush to action is dead wrong, though I know it's increasingly popular (even among people who say they're against bailouts) to say that this do-over is necessary.

When people are afraid enough, they'll toss away their principles in the name of "pragmatism." The guys in charge of the printing press know this, which is why they're telling this story the way they are.
