According to the Highs and Lows tracker in Scottrade, there were 119 instances of new 52 week lows set today and 4,103 instances of 52 week highs.

A total of 19 stocks set 52 week lows.  The stock that saw the biggest loss was MiddleBrook Pharmaceuticals Inc ( MBRK ) which was down 68.3% with a total of 14,317,882 shares traded which is 36 times the average volume.  The company files for bankruptcy last Friday.

A total of 310 stocks set 52 week highs.  The biggest gain was seen by Birks & Mayors Inc ( BMJ ) which showed a gain of 160% with a total of 223,537 shares traded which is 28 times the average volume.

The 19 lows today was higher than last Monday's 8 but essentially the same ( 18 ) as the average number of daily lows seen last week.  The 310 highs today was significantly less than the 1,032 highs seen last Monday and  lower than the average ( 506 ) daily highs seen last week.
