Hmmm, CAPS thinks the S&P dropped 9% today instead of going up 8.5 points!

Usually the CAPS system magically syncs up at 5PM and puts out a report for the day that is pretty accurate. It's amazing that I still see some incorrect points showing for a few equities some days all the way up until 4:55 PM, but magically all is right, (with the exception of maybe an equity here or there that had a funkly split/dividend that needs manually corrected), by 5PM.

Today, I watched the System start scoring the S&P as being down about 9% on the day.  Man that wrecks havoc with the points system. I'm up over 1,000 points, up over a percent, and DOWN in the overall standings. It must mean there's some players with massive number of ETF's in their profiles just lurking.

I'm sure CAPs will figure this one out for another volitile trading day tomorrow, but volitility in the CAPS system is sure confusing when you get ready to log off for the day.  I thought maybe the market had crashed and I was sleeping!

Attaboys to the CAPS team for keeping this forum stable and growing......most of the time!!!!

Looks like the financial media was reporting the 9% fall all over the place.  Don't know why, but it's a bit unsettling...

Looking at the market respond to Apple earnings and the top flyers such as CRM dropping 3% after hours makes one wonder if this is an omen....... !!!  Just the index is down, none of the stocks that correlate to it.  (That I can see).

Another event that makes you feel safe and secure with the robots/computers running the markets!!!! :)

Yeah!  I caught that too.  I logged onto CAPS last night about 11:30 and noticed my rating had jumped 5% and my score had popped over 1000 points.  I considered closing all my picks to lock in those big gains.  I checked a few others that I follow (TSIF, Bevo, bullishbabo) only to see similar results.  Felt a bit sad for GoodVibe as he has a lot of red-thumbs so he was down about 1000 points; he's having a great day today--up over 1000 points.  Attaboy GoodVibe!

And on the subject of computers... Washington DC developed an internet voting system that they had hoped to roll out this November.  They asked a University of Michigan professor and his students to test the system.  They immediately hacked in and set up the main page to play the Michigan fight song.  They then changed cast ballots to 'impish little gnome robots,' followed by changing the site password such that the administrators could not access the site.  The professor then testified before Congress that it would be decades if ever before internet voting is secure.

I think those impish little gnome robots infiltrated the CAPS computer.  Go Blue!

Impish little gnome robots?  LOL

Just wanted to send a slightly early thank you (there is even a blog!) for all the fun and the often needed help given to a newbie investor! ;)
