I hope all the fools, bulls and bears alike rode Sandy out ok and didn't take much damage.

I should have paid more attention to USG this spring, the story had to be getting better and now it popped 5% today.

I'm in PA but thankfully I faired relatively well compared to my friends.  I didnt lose power but many people I know are still without power, including my office.   I guess if Fools are without power they wont be able answer anyway.  Hope they are ok.

NYC myself and fortunately nothing happened to my house.  I do live higher up so flooding wasn't really a concern.  The wind was.  The transformer on my block did start shooting fireworks for about 15-20 seconds then stopped.  Never lost power or cable.

The areas that got pummeled were the coastlines since this was more a storm of surges (at Full moon and high tide).  This isn't a story that will go away since it will happen more and more over time as the warming process plays out.

NYC will need to start thinking serious surge protection.  Making the ends of the tunnels sealable.  Lower Manhattan will have to start building up walls around it.

Fortunately the death total, while tragic in any case, wasn't as high as it could have been.

Glad you came through without too much damage. My relatives seem to be ok, with nothing major.
