Shares of Marcus Corporation (NYSE:MCS) jumped 9.07% on Tuesday to close at $10.10 a share. Marcus Corporation is the owner of some 53 movie theaters and 663 screens and eight hotels and resorts in Nebraska, Ohio, Illinois, Minnesota, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin. The company’s shares are down some 21.2% year-to-date but are likely to move higher in the coming months. Orient-Express Hotels Ltd. (NYSE:OEH), an international hotel and travel company, saw its share jump by 8.57% to close at $8.49 a share. Trading volume approximated the average daily turnover. OEH is still more than 16% lower compared to the price levels at the beginning of the year. Red Lion Hotels Corp. (NYSE:RLH) was also among the price gainers on Tuesday. Shares of this hotel owner with some 45 hotels under management in the US and Canada surged 7.72% to close at $6.84. Trading volume relatively subdued, though, averaging for the day about 0.76x the regular daily volume. RLH price has a major upside potential, given that the average analyst target price of about $9.00. Gaylord Entertainment Company (AMEX:GET) was another stellar login-industry performer on the AMEX on Tuesday. Shares of this hospitality company rose 7.46% to close at $ 26.76 a share. GET is now 35.5% above its level at the beginning of the year. Last week the company reported bullish statistics about room night production and revenue per available room.
MHGC $6.41 +$0.39
Morgans Hotel Group Co. (NASDAQ:MHGC) was the fifth highest-percentage gainer on the AMEX. Shares of this $193 million company went up by 6.48% to close at $6.41 a share. MHGC is currently up 40.3% from the beginning of the year and looks poised to break its 50-day exponential moving average of $6.57 in the coming days. The company has the fifth highest gross margin in the industry (52.8%).
