Why do people hate AT&T's 3g when test show it's the best?

Because the iPhone is not pulling its weight. http://bit.ly/5UgWNn

Wow, interesting article. This really goes against the current thought that Apple is superior, regardless of the product.

Thanks for sharing!

Hmmm...not on an iPhone, but still with AT&T (not by choice). My service is horrendous when not in a major metropolitan area. When I get service, then yes, AT&T is great. I can check e-mail quickly, pull up weather, all that fun stuff...but 15 miles west of that spot, I get no 3G...10 more miles and I'm lucky to be able to place a call.

Throughput only matters if you get a signal.

AT&T's coverage has a hole exactly where we moved (in our house, there are 2 rooms where you can talk) but mostly, the data coverage on our samsung blackjacks was great -- when we still subscribed to it. We had 3G + tethering years before the iPhone 3G was ever released, and I could run my laptop off its internet to get a lot of work done if necessary.

Would have been nice if there were more coverage, and AT&T took a while to pick up coverage in more rural areas, but only when I'm riding across Iowa on RAGBRAI do I ever find places I just can't get any signal at all. And when I'm doing that, I'm more interested in beer than chatting on the phone.
