TMFStockspam doesn't seem to be getting emailed all of the active mailers!  Pick up the pace people!  Of course you can count on a few Foolish players to pick up on some of them anyway.  This particular example is TMFSmashy's, or at least Toby was first to call it.

Of course, if I was on the mailers, it might be dangerous to me.  Despite the warnings and the fun of getting called on the carpet by some company's lawyers for something I've said, I still can't resist pitching what I believe to be factual, in as factual manner as possible.   Not to reopen this discussion, but there are company's with lawyers who sometimes take offense of someone calling them out. I've had my exposure and I should have learned my lesson, but I'm pretty thick headed. AS a result, these type of Foolish calls, with explaination/pitches have been dwindling from Fooldom.

There are also some players who don't feel that downthumbing an OB/PK stock is quite fair in regard to playing the CAPs game. I say to each his own and since a downthumb is only worth 100 points, (plus any upside in the S&P over that period) and a good upthumb (TCK, HGSI, for example) can be worth 1,000 plus, that better stock picking will outweigh an occasional chance for some of us to pick on the vertically challenged.  With the new volume limits, many of the OB/PK are playable in real life and I consider it a community service ot play these type of equities and pitch them.  Sometimes they can "sting" a score, especially if they rally upward from a low level and then cease business, making them a delist and a loss.

I still find it hard to believe that some people put real money on these.  Many of the reverse shells are tricky to follow and some are legitimate as company's take the easy way into a ticker listing. Some get a nice foundation from advertising.  Many of the legitimate ones, however, just come out of the gate TOO Strong and can't meet the expectations set by the "mailers".  Some players really take offense to calling out one of these company's and I'm really sad that those who created accounts here on CAPS to debate me didn't hang around.  I'm especially sorry that whomever created "TSIFisaFool" got to it before I did.  The Capital F on Fool means they must really like me, as I consider being a "Fool" a great compliment!  Some of the reverse shells end up being great little company's and in some cases, the 10-Q flow and financials were just too much for me and I WAS WRONG!  I still don't think that right or wrong that any little caps article, pitch or blog is what causes an equity to rise or fall.  Unless of course it's TMFUltralong calling it! :)  (Kidding)!

IN this particular example, TNGS.OB, the flow looks pretty textbook and is very easy to follow. The company's 10-Q is very clear and is quite commendable. It's rare to see the Yahoo message board so quick to question a company without defenders/promoters jumping in to muddy the waters.

These type of company's are usually Oil/Gas or Mineral exploratory's.  It's nice to dream of finding a company at just the right point in it's startup and getting in on the ground floor, but the dream of oil or gold waiting to be turned into profits should give even the most risk inclined speculator some hesitation.  Even if it's flowing in the open or nuggets to be picked up, you gotta have permits and infrastructure.  Of course if it's oil flowing in the open, you've probably got bigger problems you will need to deal with long before you can make a profit!

In the case of Titan Oil and Gas, the 10-Q is (again) very clear.

There is less than $100,000 in play, yet the market cap is $112 Million, even after today's "correction".  They own a 2.5% interest in a nonworking well, and have several 5 year leases "PN&G leases (the "Leases") with the Alberta provincial government" that they just bought for less than $100,000 (total) with no known reserves. They do not plan to hire any employees. They are listed as a "Going Concern" by their auditor.  All very clear and nicely explained.  What can't be explained is a market cap of $112 Million or why anyone would purchase their stock in the current trading range.

The rest of my write-up is in my pitch.   I consider my efforts part of the Fools purpose:

" Our Purpose : To educate, amuse & enrich"

.....and I do so with respect to Titan Oil and Gas who provided this example.

For those who think it's cheating here on CAPS then all I can say is suck it up and play your way, just have some FUN!  For those who I offended with my attempt at factual analysis of a company, please use your own CAPs account, or the new handles that you take out, for some friendly debate and help educate me when I'm wrong, (or when you perceive me to be), at any rate, offer me the really, really good Foolish names if you aren't going to use them!

Thanks to Smashy for the cribs.

Now how do I get on those mailers???

Great pitch, TSIF.

As for TMFStockSpam, I've actually sent a few recently but no one seems to have acted on them.  I'm not even sure if anyone at TMF is aware of them, or if they just haven't gotten around to them.

Holy sh*t TMFStockSpam portfolio is killing it!

I haven't checked it in some time, and I must say I'm impressed (or saddened?) by the amount of garbage out there.

Thanks kdakota630 and TMFStockSpam.

When TMFStockSpam gets in the top ten, will you code out your account so it doesn't compete....or keep it in plan site to remind the few people who will think it through that there "ain't no free lunch"!

When the minimum pick play was lowered to $0.50 I was concerned that any lower and it would skew the scores.  Picking a penny stock that does succeed (even from a temporary pump), could get you 10,000 points!  You only have to luck into two or three of them out of every 10 you try to et the score up.   Picking one to underperform does the 100 point max plus S&P move CAP.

We'll likely remove TMFStockSpam from the rankings when it gets into the top ten and/or top spot.  We're all still somewhat amazed by how well it's doing.  It's an interesting lesson for sure.

Is there a different place we're supposed to send stock spam for TMFStockSpam?  I've been sending it here because I thought that was what we were supposed to do.

I just now checked TMFStockSpam and can't believe that somebody included Tenneco, a legitimate company, in this portfolio.

Can somebody plaese explain why? There was no letter / mailing mentioned that somebody received as Spam, like it usually happens with the penny garbage.

When TEN got included in this portfolio, its share price was at $25, now at $40+.

Either somebody made a mistake or is ill informed when it comes to Tenneco (a true succes / turnaround story).

p.s.

I see CVC, another legitimate stock with a high share price, is in that portfolio as well. In the pitch, once again it doesn't say why????

Thank you for the explanation.
