Anybody else miss him? I sure do. Some of you n00bs may not know what I'm talking about. St00pid n00bs. Get a life! SpecBear was the best. And OneStarHero. Only the good die young.
I miss both of them. I thought OneStarHero's idea was a really interesting one. It didn't work at all, but it was worth investigating.
Funny you should mention him, as I've been looking to do a bit of a tribute to him for a few weeks now.
I was waiting for my ranking to close higher than his. I actually did it a few days, but there were some stock splits that CAPS hadn't taken into account and I didn't want my outranking him to not be legit.
Basically I was going to point out that as far as I can tell, he never maxed out his picks, didn't do a lot of frequent picking or down-thumbing leveraged ETFs for his fantastic accuracy, and that while I was doing stuff like that, it still took me 2 1/2 years after he'd disappeared for me to even catch up to him!
I have a lot of favourites on CAPS, but in my opinion, SpecBear was the best.
[At the time of this writing, I am actually one place ahead of him.]
A lot of excellent Fools have been lost over the years, sad!
The excellent Fools are drowned out by the political posters here on CAPS. That is the problem.

You're being a bit hard on him. OneStarHero is 73699 out of 73787. He's up against some tough competition in the bottom 100.
leohaas - The excellent Fools are drowned out by the political posters here on CAPS. That is the problem. Touche. (And yet, you do keep reading and commenting on my blog.) =D (Oh, and one other thing: my whole thesis for gold is based on my extreme political pessimism. If I thought government/the Fed was going to stop being extremely atrocious, I would advise all who would listen to sell their gold in a hurry. So it's kind of related.)
Does anybody else remember the Duke of Wall Street? Fall makes me feel very nostalgic.
Does anybody else remember the Duke of Wall Street?
No, but I do remember the Duke of Doubt from those old Burger King commercials. Anyone else remember that?
Do you guys remember EverydayInvestor?
EverydayInvestor rocked! (he was forced out by trolls)
SpecBear was Top Fool at one point when I joined. I did'nt talk back then.
Have to admit the quality has gone down, I can only hope to make you guys smile once in awhile.
Things always seem better looking back. "Back in my day..." CAPS is still one of the best imo. Lots of smart people who are generally very civil by internet standards. Can't really ask for more =)

Yeah. But imagine if we had today's crowd and SpecBear and Duke of Wall Street and Everyday Investor and everybody all concurrently!
