I remember when Reagan was President and we still had Bob Hope and Johnny Cash.

I don't care to engage in any kind of political commentary, but I thought that was a cute little quip. That's all I've got...

I wrote a letter to Ronald Reagan when I was 11 and got a lovely booklet back about the White House, but I never wrote Bob Hope or Johnny Cash.

Somehow I think about Reagan more in connection with Margaret Thatcher and Gorbachev--three very powerful world leaders. They were always meeting each other in places like Yalta.

I get it "hope" and "cash." I need an afternoon snack to recharge my pun circuitry.

There is still hope. I put my trust in God, not politicians of any party.

Have a Happy New Year!

I remember Reagan facing off against first Brehznev and then Andropov, back in the days of the Evil Empire, when the threat of nuclear war between us and the Soviets still seemed all too real. I remember when the Soviets shot down KAL 007 back in 1983, and how close to the brink things seemed back then. Scary times. It feels like a lifetime ago.

Scary scary Obama's going to ruin the country... oooooo~~~

That's a good fear to trade against, IMHO.

In Alabama, the weekend after Obama got elected, many churches had prayer circles to pray that the country wouldn't collapse.  Really.  These people are so sad, so fear driven, and so out of touch.

I, too, remember when Reagan was President and we still had Bob Hope and Johnny Cash.  And I remember how his tax cuts for the wealthy (and payroll tax increases for everyone else) exploded the National Debt,  Thirty years later, "Reagonomics"  has come to full fruition.  Our economy has imploded.  No hope.  No cash.

Oh, yeah.  I remember.  I surely do.

Then again, the irony is not lost that both Hope and Cash actually died under Bush. ;)
