I'll wait a few weeks to buy ACN.

June 28, 2013 – Comments (2) | RELATED TICKERS: ACN , IBM

ACN is a really well run company.  It's respected among both technology consulting companies and management consulting companies.  It has a mountain of cash and no debt.  It's ROA and ROI put IBM to shame.  It's dividend payout has gone from $350MM in 2009 to $950MM in 2012 - and the payout ratio is still only 30%.  It's repurchased $1.6B in shares in each of the past 4 years, reducing the share count from 786MM to 715MM.  At a PE of 15, this company looks way too cheap.

(disclosure - I'm an amateur chartist)

That being said, today was a horrific day for the stock price of ACN.  In the first 30min alone, the company traded down on over 6MM shares, and finished down on over 28MM shares traded.  It's average daily volume is 2.6MM shares per day.  Alot of shares traded this week on a down week and it looks like it was more than just retail trading that was going on.  I'm eager to take a stake in this company, but I'm gonna wait a few weeks to see how this one shakes out.

Well if you are going to put real money here you might want to start a position now and then cost average in.  If you try to time the low you just might miss your chance.  Alternatively sell some puts.  I was looking at this one too but wanted to wait until earnings.

Fair point.  That could definitely happen.
