If this is to hint of the development of a nuclear bomb I will just say this: Iran has NEVER attacked another country! Unlike a few others which are supposed to be "members" of the developed world.

Pakistan and Israel have nuclear weapons. Why would Iran not try and get them? Do you want to go into Pakistan? Iran has 75 million people and 20 million fighting age males. What are your recommendations?

Camistocks, I seem to recall one or two Persian empires in history, and those weren't forged through smiles and handshakes.  And what about that little tiff with Iraq some 20+ years ago?  Neither side succeeded in over-running the other, but they both tried like hell for the better part of a decade, and pretty ruthlessly slaughtered one anothers military and civilians.  Regardless of the existence/absence of moral authority ascribed to any particular "member" of the developed world, the development of a nuclear weapon in Iran would hardly be in the benign league of giving one to, say, Luxembourg.

Croco, let's just focus on the current mullah regime. They are in power since the "revolution" in 1979. And BTW I want to point out immediately that I don't share their (religious) point of view. I am a proud "infidel"!

It was Iraq under Saddam Hussein, with the support of the USA, which attacked Iran. Iraq used WMD, like mustard gas, again, with the silent approval of the USA.
