Is Apple Going the Way of the Walkman?
On an unrelated musical note, I got to be a judge at our Intern singing contest. They sang various patriotic songs in honor of the 4th...fortunately, all three groups tied and we had a Michael Jackson-themed tiebreaker. Congrats to Peter Khanahmadi for bringing it home with his rendition of "Heal the World"...It's a great day to be a Fool!
Back to the 30th anny of Sony's (NYSE: SNE) Walkman. Fellow Fool Rick Engdahl unearthed this article about a 13-year old boy who did the electronic version of camping -- trading in his iPod for a Walkman (for a week).
Sony's market dominance fell away. Will Apple's (Nasdaq: AAPL) iPod/iPhone suffer a similar fate or will Apple continue to innovate and dominate the musical landscape? Let us know in the comments section.
