Is it finally happening for PNX... (up 15% today)...

April 06, 2010 – Comments (7) | RELATED TICKERS: PNX.DL

Phoenix Companies Inc., is up 15% on 1.8M volume.

Last time I updated my recommendations from 10/6/09, PNX was the only stock down since I issued my buy ratings.

PNX is still down, but "only" 11%, which is much better than being down 24% at the time of my last update.

Today's jump in PNX's share price helped the total return of the 5 stocks I recommended on 10/6/09 go up to 37.9% (if same amount of money invested in each stock). At the time of last update the total return was at 32%.

Now, here are the returns for all 5 of my recommendations from 10/6/09:

ARM +92%

TEN +83%

SAH +16%

SEH +10%

PNX -11%

my dear friend, you keep forgetting to mention your sweetheart GTN... how come you never update us on GTN anymore?  after you rweommended the stock at $2.75.. it plunged to as low as $.55 . I see its back up again, but lets face it, that was a bad call, wasn't?

Dare, yes, GTN was a bad, bad call. And I admitted that many times already. So far, I've made some pretty bad calls, and GTN was one of the worst ones. If not THE worst (FTWR is very close).

But let's not exaggerate or manipulate the numbers because of that.

First of all, I recommended GTN at $2.18, not $2.75.

Secondly, GTN didn't plunge down to $.55, but down to $1.00 (unless you are counting the day when GTN went down to $.52 in the morning, but finished that same day at $1.55. If you are, it's your problem you are a day trader... :).

But, you are right. I do not keep you updated on GTN anymore. But, I also don't on GRT, which btw. is up 61% since my rec (I bet you forgot about this rec of mine).

But to be fair, and to do you a favor, I'll post an update on all my recs either yet this evening or tomorrow. You'll be surprised how good the numbers look (even with GTN, which is only up 16% since my rec).

Good Luck!

p.s. Weren't you the guy who bought CPE after I listed it in my 50% portfolio? It's up 219% since then. I hope you held onto that one, just like I hope you did on GTN. I don't remember issuing many sell calls... :)

Thank you very much, Momentum. I wish you good luck and many profitable trades as well.

p.s. I felt so bad when I found out you followed me on ZLC. Another bad call of mine. Sorry. Let's hope that today's 12% jump is a sign that ZLC can come back.

p.s.2 What's AH?

LOL - I can handle the loss of the CAPS points, no worries. ZLC might have some squeeze left to get me back green!

AH = After Hours - looked like PNX traded up to 3.02 late
