Is Pervasive's (NASDAQ:PVSW) Future / Shareholder Value Hiding in Plain Sight?

March 23, 2012 – Comments (10) | RELATED TICKERS: PVSW.DL , TDC , INFA.DL

Is An Open Source Company Making A #TALEND RUN Around PVSW DataRush and BigData?

The (Another) Case For Extreme Sr Mgt and Board Disruption At Pervasive Software?

On March 22, 2012 Pervasive @Datarush tweeted* Want easy, visual ETL and Analytics with Hadoop? Check this out #RushAnalyzer . This is great stuff but how is Pervasive getting the word out?        * Above tweet © 2012 Twitter.

24 hours later there were 18 views (4 were mine). With all due respect, this disturbingly suggests and confirms again Pervasive's marketing team has a gaping hole or arguably doesn't exist.

Note: Check out Talend's Home Page vs. Pervasive...who gets Brand Equity, Social Media Marketing, Marketing, Perceived Value...? I'm not convinced PVSW gets it esp viz-a-viz their lack of YoY revenue growth [iii], NASDAQ daily volume, twitter follower count...

This video should have gone viral already in lock-step with the unprecedented press and mind share Big Data is generating. I argue this is saying everything about the criticality and immediacy with a change in Pervasive's CEO, Board, and Marketing Dept.

Some suggestions...

1.  Open Source DataRush on GitHub and or Sourceforge and or have a community Version of DataRush / RushAnalyzer.

2.  Aggressively launch a BigData campaign to the masses including an iPhone version of RushAnalyzer application...Educate everyone on BigData's importance and to what it is.

3.  Resurrect and Rebrand BTRIEVE as Btrieve NoSql and open source its development..Launch as the  BIGDATA NoSql for the 99% and launch viral campaigns accordingly aggressively relying upon surgically precise social media campaigns.

Pervasive 2012 SIIA  //CODiE//  Award Finalist in:

   Best Cloud/Application Service and

   Best Integration Solution

Note: Pervasive provided (only vs. other finalists) two links in both these categories, one of which (2nd one) is a dead link. They keep falling down in marketing folks. Company is not firing on all cyclinders because they are missing cylinders. They get near the finish line and then die as everyone passes them.

Sadly, they should have also been a Finalist in the Best Database Innovation with BTrieve NoSql (per above post) but did not think of this product strategy staring them in the face...

So...per the above comment why wasn't this one of the links provided given the CTO created this video at this link proclaiming Pervasive's Universal CONNECT is a permanent competitive advantage? ...nor this link on Cloud Integration nor this one on the Integration Hub nor this one on Integration Mashups ....clearly no Steve Jobs' passion for detail present at Pervasive. Epic Fail.

As PVSW fails to announce any Big Data contracts and on the heels of anemic QoQ and YoY revenue growth it seems John Farr is issuing news releases on anything that moves e.g. last two successive ones on

1. (March 26th) Pervasive Software Joins PIDX to Promote Oil & Gas eBusiness Standards, Presents at Spring Conference 2012  and

2. (April 3rd) Pervasive Software to Moderate Birds of a Feather Session on Cloud Pricing Models at the Percona Live MySQL Conference & Expo

At this rate the next one should go something like this,,,

In 16 days (NASDAQ:PVSW) will announce Q3 2012 numbers. On the Q1 2012 and Q2 2012 conference calls John Farr has indicated that "...Intuit recently deployed a tighter integration service for QuickBooks and Salesforce CRM with Pervasive DataCloud platform and Pervasive DataSynch technology at its core. Our Intuit in Salesforce and DataCloud implementation continues to mature as we work closely in both Intuit and Salesforce.

Intuit and Salesforce expectations are high as are ours. We have a few more tests to pass, before Intuit cranks up the marketing on this service. We are very proud of our cloud-based work in concert with Intuit and many other ISVs in the market and look for leverage in these relationships in the years to come..."

On April 05 (NASDAQ:INTU) CIO Magazine published an article entitled "Intuit brings Big Data to small businesses and consumers".

"...Intuit--maker of QuickBooks, Quicken and TurboTax--is one such company. It provides business and financial management solutions to small and mid-sized businesses, financial institutions such as banks and credit unions, consumers and accounting professionals. And it has mountains of data available to it, provided by users that trust it and have opted-in to share that data.

It has transactional data, behavioral data (drawn from products like TurboTax Online and Mint), user-generated data and even social data drawn from social networks and Twitter. And it wants to democratize that data through an initiative it calls "Big Data for the Little Guy," through which individuals and businesses will be able to make their own queries on Intuit's data.

"We want to save you time and money through the use of data to give you analytics that you could never afford otherwise," says Nora Denzel, senior vice president in charge of Intuit's Big Data and social design initiatives..."

Hopefully PVSW is already all over this viz-a-viz DataRush and  RushAnalyzer and pursant to John Farr's represesntations on said conference calls.
