Another Alstrynomic prediction starting to come true!!!!!!  You were warned about health care being the next shoe to DROP as America SHUTS DOWN the old and prepares for the new!!!!!!

From the WSJ:

TROY, Mich. -- The sputtering Michigan economy is dragging down the state's once-strong health-care system, offering a preview of how a lingering recession could corrode Americans' hospitals, savings and health.

The erosion of Michigan's gold-plated health benefits, long the envy of workers across the U.S., is accelerating the state's downward economic spiral.

Years of auto-industry layoffs and benefit cuts to white-collar retirees have left hundreds of thousands of Michigan workers like Mr. Markel without employer-provided health coverage. To adapt, individuals are drawing down savings to fund their own insurance, going without treatments or tests, or leaning on an increasingly strained state. The share of Michigan residents under 65 using public insurance such as Medicaid rose to 22% last year, from 11% a decade earlier.

These cutbacks, in turn, are devastating the health-care sector. Now the state's largest employer, health-care providers have swung from profit to loss. Hopes are fading that Michigan's hospitals and clinics can offset the car industry's decline: Even as waves of former auto workers are retraining as nurses, dental hygienists and X-ray technicians, the state's hospitals are freezing expansion plans and laying off workers. Unpaid bills at the state's hospitals hit $2 billion in 2007, twice the level in 2001, and continue to grow, according to the Michigan Health & Hospital Association.

Employer-funded insurance is a pillar of the U.S. health-care system, and Michigan's experience shows what happens when it begins to erode. The state provides an extreme example of what President Barack Obama's administration is trying to address as it seeks to reinvent national health care.

IF WE AMERICANS DON'T DEAL WITH OUR PROBLEMS.....ALSTRY PROMISES THE PROBLEMS WILL DEAL WITH US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the end, it's all about change.....a change many can't even contemplate........but don't just sit there and whine.......soon it will be 9.09.

When the predictions run wild, and the false prophets hang by every headline, that is when the opposite thing happens.  I have seen and heard many people like alstry in my lifetime.  I know this much:  he lives and blogs from a position of fear and loathing.  He (assuming alstry is male) has nothing cohesive or enlightening to offer.  He has no hope in his message - only despair.  He has no plan, no leadership and is void of optimism.  He is a hollow shell of a being that thrives on negativity and gloom.  There is nothing valuable in what he writes or declares.

Alstry is a parasite that feeds on weak minds and clings to the headlines spewed by the media.  Alstry finds comfort in misery, and as we all know, misery loves company.

Having a prediction doesnt really necessarily mean that we should believe. It is still depend in us if we believe in it or not. I think if nothing will be lose if I believe in a prediction, then there is nothing wrong with it. The negative or disadvntage of a prediction is that people are beginning to be afraid in the things that might happen. Prediction can also mean analysing everything that is happening in our surrounding. I sometimes predict if I really need any payday loan.

To many over promised benefits and taxpayer guaranteed pensions, are helping to destroy what is left of our functioning economy.

Watch how CA & NY end up dealing with this. That is the tell for the rest of the country.

Michigan is an example of how unfriendly policies and taxes eventually corrode the bottom out from under business and drive it away. There are no jobs to be had in the state and it has been a problem for years.

I am an example; I was born, raised and educated in Michigan and then chose to leave because there were no jobs. I make pretty good money these days, money that could be going to Michigan coffers (sans my money via the "stimulus"), instead it goes to another state. I left because there was no opportunity and starting my own business there would have been foolish with the taxes and other requirements that businesses carry there. Michigan believed that they had a moat around "their" car industry, but every year, more of that business sector left Saginaw, Flint or Detroit and went to Mexico, Tennessee, even discussions of China at one point!
