It's time to remember our manners, my Foolish friends.

Over the last week, since the market decided to become bipolar, I have seen an increase in the blogs and comment of personal attacks against fellow Fools. I can understand feeling some anxiety over a downgrade and continued housing market woes coupled with jobless numbers that are demoralizing. What I don't understand is a conscious decision to take out our frustrations and fears in this manner. I ask my fellow Fools to mind your manners and keep this a place of sharing and friendship. In the past I have been guilty of being a jerk and I am speaking to myself as much as I am to those reading this.

I'm also sorry for being a jerk to those who don't think gold is money/ think Warren Buffet is worth listening to.

Whenever I think of cato, my first thought always goes to his incredible participation in the $0.10-per-click Foolanthropy campaign for the Thurgood Marshall Academy. Your heart is true!

From someone who listens to Warren Buffett all the time, and thinks gold is an asset, not money: +1 rec.

#4 - Thanks. I've never had so much fun posting nonsense as then.

#3 - Watch your step, Smog. :)

#6 - I respect WB, think he is right a majority of the time. However at this time in history I think for him to say anything against American policies and pro PMs would serve to undermine his company. He and his shareholders will not let loose lips sink the ship.

#7 - If you had I would have laughed out loud even louder. I just got a "What's so funny?" look from the wife.

There can be genuine outrage at decision made at the highest levels, but that's no justification of spewing hateful words. If 'They' ever took notice, we wouldn't like the results (Patriot Act anti-terrorist law enforcement types interpreting our words?), and if they don't, why do it?

And we can be dismayed at the enabling attitudes of our fellow Fools. But better than belittling comments is education and calm persuasion.

May I suggest we go to http://mises.org and do a search on some of these terms:

spending jobs

inflation gold

structure of production

Federal Reserve

BTW, my comment was more aimed at comment #1.

And when mentioning Buffett, I probably should have disclosed I am long BRKB.

Another rec for comment #12!

When I woke up this morning, things were lookin' bad
Seem like total silence was the only friend I had
Bowl of oatmeal tried to stare me down... and won
And it was twelve o'clock before I realized
That I was havin' .. no fun

Chorus:
But fortunately I have the key to escape reality
And you may see me tonight with an illegal smile
It don't cost very much, but it lasts a long while
Won't you please tell the man I didn't kill anyone
No I'm just tryin' to have me some fun

Last time I checked my bankroll,
It was gettin' thin
Sometimes it seems like the bottom
Is the only place I've been
I Chased a rainbow down a one-way street... dead end
And all my friends turned out to be insurance salesmen

Repeat Chorus:

Well, I sat down in my closet with all my overalls
Tryin' to get away
From all the ears inside my walls
I dreamed the police heard
Everything I thought... what then?
Well I went to court
And the judge's name was Hoffman

Ah but fortunately I have the key to escape reality
And you may see me tonight with an illegal smile
It don't cost very much, but it lasts a long while
Won't you please tell the man I didn't kill anyone
No I'm just tryin' to have me some fun
Well done, hot dog bun, my sister's a nun

Obviously some of the comments are directed at me, (btw I like the song Chris)

Yes I did have a blowup over the weekend and said some things that I wish I had'nt.

I think part of it was stress from spending a good portion of the weekend being jerked around by my mortgage lender in my ongoing attempts to re-fi.(So that's somewhat of a hot-button topic for me).

The other part was I broke my own rule of not posting on Caps after drinking beer all day.

For that you have my sincerest apologies, and I'll keep this post in mind before I say something stupid and hit the post comment button.
