This is a few months old, but hints at what I think of Dow 10,000, especially the part about how it's an arbitrarily chosen group of 30 stocks from among thousands. And don't get me started on price weighting.

As for the use of the Dow as a political barometer, will these pundits update their opinions about what the Dow thinks of Obama now that stocks are up 60%? I'm not thrilled with everything Obama's doing (and I'm definitely not thrilled with Timothy Geithner), but I am a big fan of intellectual consistency. How about showing the performance of the Dow while George W. Bush was president?

The bottom line: Anyone who uses the Dow as the springboard for criticizing a politician will eventually look like an idiot.

Don't count on it, Bro! These pundits you are referring to loathe intellectuals, so they cannot be bothered with intellectual consistency...
