At an environmental demonstration a petition was passed around to ban dihydrogen monoxide, Hundreds of these WELL INFORMED LIBERAL GREEN PEACERS promptly signed the petition, this evil chemical was told to members of the demonstration that is was all pervasive, used in nuclear reactors, could be found in lakes and rivers, was actually found in our kitchens now, needless to say the crowd was outraged and lined up to sign the petition calling for the banning of this evil substance also known as:

While your blog makes a good point to the dangers of being misinformed or even deceived by the wording in a question. I think the title is flawed and I would bet that most statistics would show that by in large the left is much more educated than the right. If you have ever traveled through the conservative south you would see for yourself.

Where do you get the idea that those who attend monster truck rallies and professional wrestling events are conservative? They seem to me to be more in line with the usual democrat party voting union member.

You are an idiot. You can give that same test to a random group of conservatives and they will answer the same thing. Not only is that one of the most common examples told in churches across the country, but haven't you heard the one about "ending women's suffrage?" Lesson: Most people are ignorant, especially when you use terminology they don't understand. Hence the terms "credit crunch", "bailout", or "conservative" --None of which actually mean anything.

Here's a link to the wiki article on the original hoax, started in 1990. The article makes no mention of the targets' political affiliation. In fact, the hoax was started on usenet, and was therefore aimed at a group of people that can only be described accurately as "Internet users".

Unless Ktrotter assumes that all Internet users in 1990 were liberals. Then again, Ktrotter is not the first conservative to pull assumptions out of thin air and call them 'facts'.

They are almost as stupid as right winged "conservatives."

The only thing dumber than a liberal believing dihydrogen monoxide is toxic and should be banned, is a neo"conservative" who believes a story about that type of thing without question.

It's belief without question that is the enemy of all decent and thoughtful people in the world.

At least Liberals know what their agenda is, even if they are economically illiterate. Conservatives, on the other hand, have no idea that they push a pseudo Marxist agenda... while being economically illiterate.

And thanks to hey4ndr3w for disclosing the original source. Such gross generalizations, be they actually believed or masked under a veil of "sarcasm", have no place in intelligent discussions.

I think LordZ has come back to roost. God help us.

In only 5 days, this account has amassed 52 picks,  a 96.15% accuracy, and 21 groupies? Definitely sounds like a LordZ revenge plot.  If you are the infamous Lord Zero, welcome back, dude! If not, try a little harder not to be so offensive -- just a suggestion.

I wish more people would wake up to the realization that bickering over partisan politics only serves to waste time, effort, and resources at the expense of true progress.  This may just be my objectivist mentality talking, but how can you all not realize how stupid it sounds, when you throw around these generalizations in an effort to label the other guy as the bigger idiot?

The reality isn't that either one is "dumber" than the other, it's that both don't seem to ever think for themselves.

DemonDoug nailed it, though to expand on his point:

This system's foundation is built upon confirmation bias, and the media keeps it all running strong by separately catering to either side, with each news agency positioning themselves as a mouthpiece for either the liberal left or conservative right.  Want a Conservative slant in your propaganda?  Fox News is the place to go.  How about a Liberal slant, does that suit your fancy better?  Then head on over to CNN, and let their elitist pseudo-intellectualism incubate your ego.  Don't bother thinking for yourselves though, you’ll be provided with experts you can trust.  Experts who are really only there to reaffirm your existing biases, so that you can go on the Internet to your favorite blogs, or to the water cooler at your office, and bicker on and on about who’s dumber, while your so called leaders gradually degrade your standard of living by embezzling the tax revenue you generate at whatever mindless service job you’ve landed yourself in.

Congrats on being part of the problem, and welcome to the machine.  How much are you paying a month for cable?  Your mind-manipulating media masters are happy to sell you their thoughts, and unfortunately you’re all still buying.  Stop, and you'll be surprised how much richer and more knowledgable you become.  I'm not kidding.

I've come to prefer the term "mental masturbation," though that could really apply to all television programming.
