I do apologize in advance for the non-investing, politically-based post...but:

Thank you to CNN for bringing even a little attention to this. I know among the open-minded on boards like these, this topic has been discussed quite deeply and intelligently, but from a National public standpoint, there is a depressing lack of awareness of just how rigged our political system really is:

Why Your Vote Won't Matter

I re-iterate my stance that the most efficient solution to our country's partisan woes is to rid the system of party designations. Get rid of all the "D"s and "R"s after candidates names, and soon people will have to actually listen to their ideas in order to make their voting decisions.

In my opinion, our elected representative's only responsibility should be to solicit constituent opinions and to relay the vote of the people.  It makes me sick to see politicians knowingly vote against the will of the majority.  Representatives aren't elected to do as they please because they're so much wiser than everyone else...they're elected to "represent", as in represent the will of the majority, not "replace".  Our government would be more efficient if we replaced every member of Congress with modestly paid administrative personnel that would relay online voting information...a true government "by the people".  This wouldn't have been possible when the country was founded, but it's certainly possible now, and it would eliminate lobbyists, untold billions in waste, etc...
