Just who is 'Eldrehad' anyway?

November 27, 2006 – Comments (10)

Hello fellow CAPS players.

I'm just checking out this new blog feature to see how it worked, and in order to do that I figured the best way was to post something.

I've been asked by a few people where I got the name 'Eldrehad'. Well, it was actually the name of one of my friend's favorite Dungeons and Dragons characters from my younger days. Eldrehad was a rather flamboyant elven illusionist who always did things with grandiose style and flair and made my favorite character at the time, a cleric, seem downright boring and stodgy by comparison.

Anyway, that's where I got the name... until next time.

Aha! I suspected that your picks originated from a "rather flamboyant elven illusionist." I'm glad you've finally come clean! --jk

Russell, thank you for settling that topic of mystery. As a fellow D&D player "back in the day," I'm glad to know you too spun the 20-sided die. --D

About hunches---those who win because they are lucky often come to believe that luck is with them, and that fortune always smiles upon the deserving, or worse yet they begin to confuse luck and skill. This is a "selection effect". Your hunches, if indeed that is what they are, will likely regress to the mean in future. If, however, they are actually some sort of unconscious calculation then you may continue to succeed. We'll see.

So it's not British eh? :) I make fun of your nerdy name, too... yet mine is adopted from the fictional arch mage who wrote the wizard's spell book used in the old RPG computer game Ultima 3 (seriously, Google for "Ultima and Selzhanik"). Hey, I was a kid, and I needed a cool handle when I logged into various BBS's! Wait, that's even more nerdy.

Ummm.... I think I played Ultima 3... I know I played a couple of them, and I think 3 was among them.

I guess that makes me a double-nerd! :-)

Guys that play female characters in WoW. Now THAT is lame, lame, lame-ity, lame! :D

Cause I know (and you know) it's only so you can stare at her bum as you level up.

Although one-handed gameplay every coupla hours can seriously slow your leveling progress...

And no, I don't know this from experience ;-)

Anyways, I'm really glad to see that the top CAPS cheese is a role-playing nerd! W00t!

Wish I was as good at caps as I am at RPGs :p Anyway, I'm learning (just like everyone else I suppose...)

Keep up the sweet picks elf-butt! =)
