Kazin: Class Warfare Waged by FDR Holds Lesson for Obama

December 08, 2011 – Comments (1)

Michael Kazin professor of history at Georgetown University writes a well written article about FDR's strategy to win his second presidential election in 1936 and how it may now pertain to  Barack Obama's second term campaign. A good read.

I think it is Obama's only chance.  I suspect people are tired of his rhetoric and preaching which he pretty much did during his first campaign with the whole "hope" line. I am of the view that he just doesn't deserve a second term.  But there aren't many alternatives.  Gingrich or Romney it is shaping up as.

I have no problem with class warfare.  Kudlow makes it sound like it is a bad thing, but in line with Gecko's "greed is good"  I say "class warfare is good."  That was one of the driving forces in the formation of this Country, we simply kicked out royalty.  But we seem to be replacing it with a "new royalty," the uber rich.  And don't think for one second that money isn't power.

This has to change, and if pushes this message heatedly he might incite enough voters to stand behind him.  But then whether he would do anything in office is another question.
