LIC: Lying, Naughty for You, OK for U.S. Attorney General
Brings new meaning to the old saw about how you know when a lawyer is lying. (answer: when his lips are moving...)
Quoth Bush's legal eagle per the Washington Post: "I was not involved in seeing any memos, was not involved in any discussions about what was going on," Gonzales said.
Yet documents show he held a meeting at which the firings were, in fact, reviewed.
Good thing Albo G. is simply getting caught telling whoppers about his role in a politically-motivated plan to replace federal prosecutors with loyalist henchman, sans Senate approval, rather than, say, getting caught canoodling with an intern. Otherwise, he might get in trouble.
And Bush wonders why the Congress wants to get these guys under oath and on record? Given their cavalier attitude about the truth, I'd say that's necessary.
