This sounds like a familiar scene....
Yes, it is all too familiar - which is why it makes for compelling headlines. We read these stories and remember the devastation similar events caused to stock markets around the world. It ignites a great deal of fear in investors and causes them to think "Oh no! What if this happens again. I don't want to experience another 50% decline in my stocks, I'm getting out." So, it's rather surprising that the market is not down more today. The market has discounted some of the bad news over the past month. It obviously doesn't buy another doomsday scenario otherwise it would be down a lot more. Net/net, I think we're still okay and the market can move higher.
