Look Ma, Top of the World! I'm in the Top 100!
"Look Ma, Top of the World!"
Back when I started playing CAPS last year, I tried to come up with realistic goals to achieve. One was to be a CAPS All-Star. That seemed very achievable to me. Another goal was to achieve a 99+ rating. I accomplished that and have stayed over that level for most of the past few months. My final far-reaching goal was to hit the Top 100 at some point. It looks like I achieved that one, as well. Who knows if I'll stay here for long, but I can cherish the moment while it lasts. Just in case I never see a top 100 ranking again, here's the screen capture:
Of course, while I like having a high CAPS rating, it's hardly the most important thing to me. The reason I came to CAPS was to learn more about investing. If I had a rating of 30 and a ranking of 40,000, it wouldn't really bother me so long as I was gaining something from the site. There's also the fact that CAPS ratings are distortive in some ways due to the accuracy component; plus, successful long-term investors can have very low scores for a considerable period of time. But it still feels good to be in the top 100.
In any case, I want to thank Motley Fool for providing this excellent service. The CAPS community was a brilliant innovation that has proven itself to be a very fruitful resource to many investors such as myself. I've learned so much from reading commentary here and interacting with others.
Now let's see how many days it takes for me to fall back down to #230 or #450 or #708 or #2103. ;)
