MagicDiligence Website Re-Design
As you've probably noticed, I've re-launched an entire site re-design for MagicDiligence, one that has been in the works for most of this year. We had been using the same site design pretty much since launch, so an update was due. It also gives me the chance to improve the presentation and emphasize what the site is all about. Here are the highlights of what's changed:
New, Integrated Content Feed
The "Content" button now aggregates all MagicDiligence content into a single, date organized feed. It includes our Twitter comments (the little blue bird at the right), premium articles (red star - only visible to logged-in members), and free articles (nothing at right). Before, content was separated in two separate areas, now it is lined up and easy to see what is new.
Stock-Based Organization of Content
Every stock now has its own page at MagicDiligence. You can access it by typing in the ticker or company name into the search field at the upper right and selecting the stock from the drop-down menu, or by clicking the ticker wherever it appears in an article or list on the site. All non-financial stocks will have their Magic Formula® statistics and any site content all lined up in chronological order, in one single, attractively laid-out page. This makes it much easier to find our thoughts and updates on the particular stock(s) that interest you. Here is an example for recently-reviewed Warner Chilcott (WCRX).
Additionally, the "Stocks" button now shows the most recently updated stocks with new content from MagicDiligence, so you can quickly catch up with our latest thoughts. An updated page with a key to the color codes will be coming soon. If you click on the stock you can see how the colors map to a MagicDiligence "opinion" on the stock page itself.
Simplified Account Management
The management of accounts, including upgrading from a Guest account to a Membership, and canceling existing memberships, is now as straight-forward as possible. Just go to the "Account" link under your name in the top right of the toolbar.
MagicDiligence is a Magic Formula® Investing stocks research and recommendation site. I've tried to focus the new design on the best presentation possible for finding and reading stock information. Article fonts are large, high contrast, and stretch the entire page to make reading on a PC, tablet, or even phone as pleasant as possible. Company logos spruce up the presentation. The toolbar navigation is now simple and consistent - no page is more than one click away. The search interface can be used to find specific companies (using name or ticker), or for general search. Our RSS feed has been changed from stub output to full article, allowing you to read our (free) content in its entirety in your favorite RSS reader.
Perhaps best of all, I've completely removed ads from MagicDiligence.
Nothing Left Behind
One thing that constantly disappoints me with site re-designs are important features that I use get removed or reworked in a way that they are no longer useful. All effort was made to include *all* features of the "old" MagicDiligence into the site re-design, and improve them if possible.
As a result, all of the tools return with simplified, prettier presentations. All of our past articles are available, and all of our legacy URLs still lead to the same content.
