I thought I'd ask the question, is McDonald's a winner or a sinner? In the sort of, socially responsible sense that is.

I do think McDonald's is a good stock (and it's been a great pick for me here in CAPS). However, I know I've fielded the question before, how could I like McDonald's when I'm such a big fan of socially responsible investing? Lots of people see Mickey D's as a bit, er, dodgy on the spectrum of good vs. evil.

There's a lot to weigh regarding McDonald's and its corporate social responsibility initiatives so I went ahead and dug in a bit here (this topic is related to my real-money Rising Stars portfolio for Fool.com). I'm hoping to get good feedback from Fools on the question. (So far in the poll at the end of the article, "winner" is winning by a landslide!)

I hope everybody has a great three-day weekend!

They poison children, offering chemistry in the guise of food.  That's not good and can't be offset by 'social responsibility initiatives'.  At least Altria admits that cigarettes are harmful.
