This story is so last week but it isn't getting the press it deserves.  Microsoft was fined $731 million by the EU for "not giving consumers a choice of how they access the internet".  So the EU fined Microsoft $731 million dollars because 15 million Europeans between May 2011 and July 2012 had to download Chrome or Firefox... for FREE.  The fine breaks down to about $50 per person, do you think the people affected will ever see a Euro?  NO.

This "fine" wreaks of desperation.  The EU is broke and Microsoft is an easy target.  Microsoft is one of the largest companies in the world and has a huge cash hoard.  Microsoft isn't a particularly liked company even in America.  People used to say Microsoft is evil.  Microsoft is big business.  Now people say (Steve Ballmer) and Microsoft are stupid.  They have no innovation and copy Apple.  That's why Microsoft was robbed by the EU.  Because nobody cares.

If you buy a Mac in France does it come with pre loaded with Safari or do the people at Apple load it with IE , Chrome and Firefox also?  The EU won't go after Apple because Apple is liked.

You might say who cares, you might not own Microsoft or even care about Microsoft but it's the principal that matters.  Microsoft for Internet Explorer today, Google for search tomorrow, Maybe Apple later.  Maybe the solution is for US companies to stand together and not put up with this crap by the EU.
