More Evidence America is Shutting Down

July 09, 2009 – Comments (6)

As CAPs players are debating whether Alstry sucks or not......

The staff at Smith & Hawken in Edina's Galleria mall put on their game faces Wednesday afternoon, even as they were given the worst possible news: The upscale gardening store will start liquidating inventory Friday, and will close for good as soon as everything's sold.

Managers found out in an emotional 1 p.m. conference call that all 56 Smith & Hawken stores will close by the end of the year.

56 more commercial vacancies.  Hundreds of workers losing their jobs.  Millions in tax revenues gone.

This story is playing out across the nation as misguided economist talk about green shoots.

Prepare...9.09 is near.

With swine flu showing no sign of taking a summer vacation, the pandemic virus has claimed a fourth victim in the county and is surfacing at children's camps across the country, including one in Julian.

Outbreaks at 52 camps in 20 states have been reported to the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, spokesman Joe Quimby said yesterday. Because the CDC and states don't require such reporting, the true number of camp outbreaks is likely higher, Quimby said.

Between now and 9.09....Alstry predicts MOAP will be commonly known among the population.

MOAP stands for Mother Of All Projections.........

It will be a life changing event and you will know it when you see it.....if you have to think whether it is or it isn' is NOT MOAP.

Aeropostale and the Buckle's sales are up big. The weak retailers are being weeded out that the good ones are gaining market share. This is typical in a recession.

America is not shutting down. It hit bottom and is stabilizing. If the Dims in Congress and the White house stop stomping on the green shoots and stop planting yellow weeds we will recover much faster.

At least support for Obama, the Demos and thier agenda is tanking.

Can you tell me which are the "good" retailers beyond tiny Buckle and Aeropostale who are both discounting very heavily....

I dont think America is shutting down.  I do think Americans are being forced into positions where for the first time in their live's are thinking about the difference between what is a want and what is a need.   If more Americans considered this before buying houses they know they couldn't afford we wouldn't be in such a mess.  Not everyone is meant to own a house.  Besides, a house is not an asset its a liability.  swingtrader930
