My US Stock Market Portfolio

April 29, 2007 – Comments (2)

I have recently put up my real US market portfolio on Very cool site indeed. This portfolio is what I consider as my real-life test of the combination of my business sense and my valuation techniques learned from the Motley Fool.

I must agree the site is very cool.  I tried a handfull of benchmarks and your portfolito beat all but hidden gems (which was strikingly similar, Hmm?) and Vanguard Precious Metals (which was me cheating because I know metals have done well).  Very nice.

Thanks for the site tip.

Thanks for the comments! To be honest, I did not check with other benchmarks except for the S&P. I would do the Russell 2000 but could not find it.

And you are spot on that I had a lot of help from TMF Hidden Gems for narrowing down my universe of stock picks. Still learning though, nowhere near venturing out on my own. Therefore learning to value and having the HG boards are really great.

On the topic of indices, personally, I don't think that it's "cheating" to compare with Precious Metals because it's really about where money is allocated. Except for my case, I have no idea or comfort in emotionally handling the gyrations of the precious metals market.

I know it sounds "text-bookie", I would be glad to take another investment vehicle instead of the precious metals if it means a sounder sleep at night.

Nice CAPs score, looks like I have very close competition :)
