I see your point: it's a metaphor for the House of Representatives. Just kidding.
Thanks for the link. My fav is 21. Happy New Year!
Those are beautiful images. I've often thought about our economic structure in the western world, and what its effects are. In a pessimistic view, one sees the over use of resources, the waste of energy and materials, the waste of peoples time in silly jobs. But, at the same time, the enormous economic machine of the United States has allowed for significant capital investment into science projects which otherwise would not exist. This is in my view why having taxes is a good thing -> to drive large projects for the greater good which otherwise could not exist.
The large space projects, the large synchrotron accelerators, the internet, etc are all great investments which have come as tax by-products of our inefficient western economy. In my view, they are the justification of our western economy. They are the real end product of all the people buying fancy shoes or going to McDonald's.
Best wishes on the New Year 2010 (My god, we are in the future now! Where's our manned mission to Jupiter?)
Those sure are purrrty!
I'm happy you all enjoyed the view as much as I did.
Happy New Year.

Awe inspiring. Humbling. Incomprehensible beauty.
Psalm 8 (NLT)
3 When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers— the moon and the stars you set in place— 4 what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them? 5 Yet you made them only a little lower than God and crowned them with glory and honor. 6 You gave them charge of everything you made, putting all things under their authority— 7 the flocks and the herds and all the wild animals, 8 the birds in the sky, the fish in the sea, and everything that swims the ocean currents.
9 O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!
Wishing all of Fooldom a New Year of blessings... both temporal and Eternal.
