The strategy I've evolved for use in CAPS is working very well in CAPS, but it is difficult to impossible to do with real money. Since the long term goal of all this is to become a better real money investor, I've started a new CAPS profile. The name of it is chk999longonly. In it I will use a semi-mechanical strategy to make outperform calls only.  I have explained the strategy in the blog on that profile and will continue to blog there as the strategy evolves and hopefully becomes more formal and easier to do with real money.

The first set of picks have been made and we are off to the races!

This is a pretty patient strategy, so I expect that it will not rocket up the CAPS standings, but will patiently climb as the chosen companes find their more natural level. (Or this strategy may sink like a depth-charged halibut, in which case I will declare it a failure and look elsewhere.)

I'm still wondering if a modified version of my CAPS strategy can be done with real money and will be trying some things out over on investopedia.com to see how things play in a portfolio management environment. (With real money, bet size is as important as probability of success since going all in on a high probability event can still BK you.) Reports to follow as I see if that strategy is in any way workable or not.

Love the concept, b/c outperform ratings are certainly more difficult than underperform ratings.  Best of luck... I'll be watching.

I'm doing the same thing myself and I agree it's very much a long-term project and requires patience - especially for value investors like me. Today's the first day in a while that I'm even above 20 on that profile (to save you a click, my ranking is 99.84 right now).

Good luck!
