No license or passport? That will be an extra 25%.

Warning: This idea will make you angry! Either that or you'll agree with me.

I think I have a way to raise state and federal revenue. It is an idea that I don’t like, but can live with. My concept is that at the point of purchase at a retail counter the purchaser must furnish a state issued ID or USA passport. If you do not have one you are forced to pay a “non-resident purchasing tax” of, say, 25%. The state and federal governments can fight about the details of how to make it work. That would generate a TON of revenue from those that are here illegally and/or make a living in a manner that goes around the IRS. The exception to this would be if you are a visitor to our beautiful land and can provide a passport, visa, or green card type thingy when asked. Then maybe they should have to pony up some additional tax revenue above sales tax? I don’t know. I have not reached a verdict about that one yet.

So, which is it? You like it? You hate it?

This sounds like the least politically feasible plan I've ever heard.  Who's going to like this?  Tax hating conservatives?  Illigal loving liberals (of which I count myself one)?  I'd say neither.

This is America! Sinse when do we have to be politcally feasible about anything? At the moment we are on a collision course with crippling taxes to pay for Obama's "Thanks for the Political Donations" government spending. Why not stick it to those that dodge the tax man and are here against the laws of this country in order to maybe help take the sting out of this? Wargarble!

Fine, Jonny Eurotrash can stay at Disney for the same amount tax as everyone else. But only if he can provide a passport. No passport = More money to see the mouse.
